Friday, January 17, is my last day at Bell Labs and my last day as ihlpa!humbert. I intend to return to Stanford for the two or three months necessary to finish writing my PhD dissertation. After I complete my dissertation, I intend to return to Chicago -- I hope to return to my current job at Bell Labs, but these arrangements have not been finalized. Recent emergency medical expenses have forced me to postpone my trip to California (although the end of my employment cannot be postponed), and North American sites will receive a forthcoming article indicating my desire to obtain short-term employment as a UNIX programmer or instructor. jfs
