My teacher named Steven Jay Gould has been to the Institute for Creationism Research in San Diego. He has harsh words about it. He says that it has professors, secretaries, a library, a few blackboards, and all the other things that a research institute might have. But no research goes on there. No one goes out and digs for fossils. No one compiles data and performs statistical tests on it. No one even looks at geological samples. The professors, most of whose degrees are in areas other than biology, sit and write rhetorical arguments against evolution. You see, in order to be in the Institute for Creationism Research, you don't have be a researcher. You do, however, have to sign a statement saying that you believe the theory of creationism. What a mockery of a place of science this is! What an offensive attempt at gaining scientific authority! They should almost be shut down for fraud. --- Greg Kuperberg harvard!talcott!gjk "Nice boy, but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice." - Foghorn Leghorn
