Ron Kukak's postings remind me of a story I heard. It concerned an elephant that had 1000 fleas on his back. The interesting thing about these fleas is that they each had their own unique proof that the world (elephant's back) was flat. I suppose, now that I think of it, another version could be produced in which the fleas had a thousand distinct reasons why their world was not spherical - they argued with physicists perhaps :-) - in order to "prove" that it was flat.
