[net.origins] I'm trying to shut down the Berkeley Connection

king@KESTREL.ARPA (Dick King) (09/09/85)

It looks like somebody has spliced some sort of link between some
mailing list that sends a large amount of religious debate and us. I
don't like this any better than you, and have sent a letter to
postmaster@ucb-vax to try to get them to shut the spigot.

Maybe (s)he will be able to solve the problem, but I have no response
yet.

I have two questions:

1> Does anyone out there have a program that runs under Ultrix and
that can divert messages from a specified source? I will use this
to flush this stuff and allow legitimate submissions from UCB to go
through, if I can't get satisfaction from Berkeley.

2> Some of you have asked to be removed from the list. If I can get
this connection severed, do you still want to be removed?

I suspect that when the new <netinfo>interest-groups.text came out
three weeks back, somebody spliced this link thinking they had a new
audience for creationist drivel (I apologize in advance to those
groupmembers I just offended). We didn't notice for three weeks
because of a mailer problem at our site.
