[net.origins] Ted and Velikovsky

fritz@phri.UUCP (09/22/85)

Having been foolish enough to waste my time trying to beat some sense
into the head of Ted Holden, and to demonstrate the impossibility of
Velikovsky's ideas (I refuse to give them the benefit of the doubt and
call them theories), and having seen the ridiculous replies that he has
sent to me to rational questions (Such as asking him to explain the
orbital mechanics that would allow Venus to change orbits several times,
and still end up in a non-eccentric orbit, etc, etc), I have just one
rhetorical question to pose to the net.

Question: "Why is it that the only people who believe the codswhollop
that is Velikovskyism are almost totally ignorant in all aspects of
physics, biology, chemistry, and all other science?"

My answer: While ignorance may or may not be bliss, IGNORANCE IS
ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED TO BELIEVE VELIKOVSKY!!!!!

Any other answers would be appreciated. Send all flames to ted.
