It is somewhat comical (but also sad) for me to see a bunch of self righteous men philosophising about how they want to have control over the decisions that women must make about their bodies, lives, and minds. None of you will ever carry a child for nine months. None of you will ever lose a job because of a pregnancy. None of you will ever flunk out of professional school because of the physical, emotional, and financial burdons caused by an unwanted pregnancy. Every woman who decides to have an abortion has made a very difficult decision based on what she as a human being believes to be right. It is sad to think that so many men must continue to do what they can to keep women barefoot and pregnant. To you it is a stimulating philosophical discussion. To the women you are trying to control it is a deeply personal decision that will effect their lives forever. I wish you would accept the need to let women make the choices they must make about THEIR bodies, even if you don't respect their ability to make an intelligent choice.

This is precisely what makes me so upset whenever I read this newsgroup, and makes it so that I don't read it too often because I always end up being sick to the stomach by the insensitivity of some of the participants. Judging form the lack of femal participation here, I must not be the only one reacting this way. Sophie Quigley ...!{clyde,ihnp4,decvax}!watmath!saquigley

I may never be burdened under the pressure, or drop out of grad school because of the presure of the desire to rape somone. Does this mean I cannot take a stand against rape? The same can be said about abortion. The question is not of whether we have bee or can be through the experience, the question is hether the act is right or not. And killing an inocent child is wrong. Also, if there was not so much pressure on women to have an abortion rather than "mess up" their carreers, there might not be so much turmoil involved.
