I thought a few of you out there might like to hear what's happenned recently here in Ontario (I don't know how well the media spreads this to other areas) Dr. Henry Morgentaler (sp?) is an abortionist from Quebec who recently started to setup shop in Toronto. The prolife group picketed, of course, but he managed to remain open for somewhere between a week and a month. He was arrested, at that point, along with a few of the doctors working with him for "Conspiracy to Procure a Miscarraige" (of all things). A jury trial was held for the case, and the defence claimed that what was done was illegal but done out of necessity. The jury (after much courtroom politics) found the defendants not guilty. The abortion clinic is due to reopen on Monday, December 12. The Ontario government is planning to appeal the jury decision. The police are planning to arrest him again. A high ranker in the Catholic church (locally) has said some very nasty things about abortionists in general; Morgentaler has accused him of breeding prolife hysteria. Morgentaler is also under police protection. And there are probably many points that I've missed or gotten confused. I hope you will all excuse me for bringing reality into the Net. Could someone from far away (Houston, LA, etc) please tell me whether this news has carried that far? Larry Fast ( University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario ) The opinions expressed here are MINE ( but I'd never admit it ).
