It would be nice if we could cure/prevent them.  I expect we will
eventually have the technology to prevent genetic defects.

I realize this a big emotional issue but as long as there is no cure or
prevention or if those cures are economically inaccessible, abortion
will remain a practical solution for some women.

Despite my differences with you, I agree;  this should be supported.
