Where you aware that they [the ACLU] are presently fighting a hospital's decision to explain the abortion procedure to patients? You can't make a true choice unless you know the facts. I don't know what case you are referring to, but I suspect that you have not heard the entire story. Very likely the ACLU is involved for reasons unrelated to the abortion issue. A couple of years ago I heard about a case involving regulations which required doctors to inform patients of certain "facts." (They came pretty close to requiring that patients be informed that an abortion involved the taking of a human life; I don't remember the exact wording.) At stake in that case was whether doctors should be required to make statements to their patients which the doctors believe to be false or misleading. Perhaps you could dig up some more information about the hospital's decision, including who actually gets to do the explaining. Kenneth Almquist
