I am involved in a local Birthright and they do NOT provide babies for adoption per their charter. However, often they know of pastors, doctors, etc. who direct women or young girls who wish to carry their baby to term and give the baby up. We HAVE placed through a local doctor in an "unofficial" capacity. If you call them direct you will most likely get the answer that they do not provide adoption services. If you get to know their contacts in the community, pastors, doctors, etc., you may find Birthright a source of information through them. State laws have a lot to do with what can be done. That is, how easy or difficult it would be for a young woman to turn over her baby through the advise and help of her pastor, doctor, etc. Birthright is a service organization for "women with an untimely or unwanted pregnancy". They do not lobby, speak out on the abortion issue, or a number of other things such groups often do. Our Birthright has a very good working relationship with the local Planned Parenthood because we went out of our way when setting up to visit them and explain our stand. When they see a young woman who has questions, concerns, and is not sure if she wants to go through an abortion they will often refer her to us. Good luck finding a child. Regards, Ken Arndt
