A while ago I posted an article to net.abortion requesting both pro-choice and pro-life views on "what motivates the opposition?" So far, I've received about eight pro-choice responses but only one pro-life one. I'd like to get broader coverage of the pro-life feeling on this matter. How about it Gary, Paul, Paul, and (maybe?) Paul and all you others. Between ten and fifteen lines would be best, but if you have to say more, then so be it. I'd like to thank those who've already responded (or followed up) for taking the time. I'll go ahead and post what I have next weekend whatever happens. BTW, pro-choice responses are still welcome. I think what I have covers the range of pro-choice views, but you never know. Ed Sheppard Bellcore

Ed, What relevance does the question of what motivates the opposition have to the question of rightness or wrongness of their postion? I can only assess the motives of individuals whom I have observed and discussed the issue with, not the whole group. I have found people with motives I admire and those with motives I dislike on both sides of the issue. Motives can be good or bad in themselves and don't necessarily deterimine whether the individual's stand on the issue is incorrect. If one of the "Paul"s you addressed in your article was me, put me down as having "no comment". -- Paul Dubuc cbscc!pmd
