Before going into plugs and ethics, I agree with Mikki's point about what are we fighting for, why not work together to find ways to eventually make abortion needless, rather than difficult. But on my main topic, I read in a recent issue of Science News that a reversable form of sterilization involving plugging up the tubes with plastic corks, and putting plastic clips on the outside has been fairly successfully tested on baboons. They were 100 percent effective, and 90 percent reversable. My question is to you people who oppose some methods of birth control. Presuming that these could be made 99+ percent reversable, would these be okay for mass voluntary use. They do not kill zygotes, only prevent them. Is there some other problem that you have with birth control? Widespread use of these would certainly reduce abortions quite a bit. I know you aren't inclined to pick the lesser of two evils when you think you can stamp out both, but I'd like to hear your opinions about this. In a completely unrelated ethical question, If the zygote/foetus is human, and due the rights afforded humans, should it then also be charged with the responsibilities of a human. How do you feel about ectopic pregnancies? Should a child be locked up if a complication of his/her birth kills the mother? If these questions make you angry, please just answer about the plugs. I really was just asking to find out how you feel about these grey areas. ...!ahuta!npois!jay Anton Winteroak
