[net.abortion] right-to-life crime-wave

                            THE RIGHT TO LIFE CRIME-WAVE
COPY OF A LETTER THE WASH. POST NEVER PUBLISHED

One thing which the "right-to-life" movement seems to be
advocating, if only by implication, is a crime wave of truly
awesome proportions. Given the fact that unwanted children
normally grow up to be criminals in America, one has to
consider the eighteen million muggers, rapists, axe murderers,
stone killers, drug pushers, pimps, prostitutes, street-gang
members, bag men, torch men, confidence men, hit men, numbers
          runners, boot-leggers, moon-shiners, pick-pockets, purse-
snatchers, peeping-toms, cat burglers, dog soldiers, child
molesters, adult molesters, pilferers, and sundry
practitioners, perpetrators, and purveyors of perversions,
etc., the pre-emptive demise of all of whom was being so
loudly decried at the recent march on Washington, and ask
oneself, "where would they all be living today, if not for the
neighborhood abortion clinic?". Worse yet, assuming that a
Reagan-packed supreme court will ultimately reverse the Wade-
vs-Roe decision, where will the next such 18 million strong
army of crime be living 12 years hence? It's enough to
frighten Al Capone. I personally hope they all end up in one
of four places: New York (Wm. Buckley's neighborhood),
Roanoke Va. (Falwell's neighborhood), California (Reagan's
neighborhood), or (and this would be justice) at the Vatican. I
hope to hell they don't end up in Rockville.

Please describe the data by means of which this fact was established,
and please supply some sort of quantification for the adverb "normally."
Thank you.

The only reason the Washington Post never published a letter like that is
because they don't have a stupid jokes section. My guess is that MAD
magazine would probably reprint the letter but it needs a little better
punch line.

From Ted Holden:

One thing which the "right-to-life" movement seems to be
advocating, if only by implication, is a crime wave of truly
awesome proportions. Given the fact that unwanted children
normally grow up to be criminals in America, ...

*Is* that a fact? What do you mean by "normally"? Is it OK to
kill the "unwanted" (by whom?) fetuses that grow up to be doctors
lawyers and scientists too? It's funny how some people know the future
of all these fetal humans so as to be able to justify their killing
as a class. What about the criminals who were "wanted" (or do you
think that they are all "normally" unwanted)? Maybe the Post saw a
little non sequitur in your argument. Do you have anything that will
substantiate your generalization, and can you give us any reasons why
it constitutes support abortion on demand?

Next we'll have criminals entering pleas of innocence by reason of having
been born.

I can see why this was never published. What trash!
