[net.abortion] A Quote Without a Context

I was not making an analogy -- I was just pointing out that the
concept of 'alive' is not straightforward and can not be used to
distinguish the morality of an action (eg. to abort a fetus).

To W. E. Deibert:
Didn't your mommy ever tell you not to quote out of context?

I think it appalling at best to compare human life to a cancer cell. This cell
will simply grow out of control and disfigure, kill and mame. Why not compare
human life to any cell at all, such as those found in human excretments.
Since you have reduced human life to any arbitrary form of life, you can just
as easily kill it as you would an ant or slug and never have to think twice
about it.
Cancer cells will never grow to hug and love you, appreciate your kindness, giveyou joy and happiness or fill up empty hours unless you consider the pain and
horror of cancer as fulfillment.
A cell does not life transcend.

What comparison!!!!!!! This is the second time someone has accused me
of a comparison here. How about this: "Both human fetuses and human
excrement are made out of molecules." This is not a comparison!!!!!!!
Using a conjunction in the subject of a sentence does not imply a
comparison. I am tired of being accused of making comparisons I did not make.
Before making accusations, review your logic.

Ray -- I wonder if you even read my original posting.
