[net.abortion] Help finding "campaign-oriented" software

bch@mcnc.UUCP (Byron Howes) (09/06/85)

The following is for a friend who does not have access to this newsgroup.
Please reply to him (jmt@ecsvax) not to me.

I've been asked by North Carolina NARAL to help them obtain a
micro computer and associated software. The first step is trying
to figure out if there exists right now a software system(hopefully
public domain) for what is probably best described as 'campaign'
oriented work. Specifically it should support a large mailing
list, contributors list, volunteers list, and mixing and sorting of
the various lists. They need to keep track of specifics about
contributors, members and volunteers that beyond the normal infor-
mation includes 'giving-history', activities volunteered for,
activities done, general comments(had baby, call in 6 weeks) and
be able to produce interest specific lists (phone inquiries, stuffing
envelopes, etc). They also need to keep track on donations, membership
fees, a budget and produce the reports normally associated with an
organization of this type.

Our thoughts right now run towards dBase III programs, but we're
interested in any flexible system that is easy to use.

If you know of such a system, commerical or public domain, I'd
appreciate your comments. We don't want to reinvent any wheels.

Please respond via e-mail to jmt@ecsvax.

Thanks.
