On the topic of the thinkjet... it creates very small dots, these dots
do not overlap, this makes the output look spotty. If I can drop dots
twice with small vertical offset then maybe I could overcome this? The
one I saw had paper jamming problems, left which lines in solid areas,
left extra lines when it drew horizontal lines, and often shifted the
decenders over on dot to the left, which looks sort of like a clever
font design. ben.

The size of the dots on ThinkJet is determined by the kind of paper you use.
On the ink-jet paper sold by HP, the dot size is 13 mils, and the center-to-
center dot spacing is 10 mils, so the dots overlap.

By the way, HP's ink-jet paper is no more expensive than "normal" paper. You
can get it from an HP personal computer dealer, from HP directly, or from
the paper finisher:
		   Duplex Products, Inc
		   1-800-521-0190

(quantities of more than 2 boxes are cheaper if you order from Duplex.)

On the topic of strange control characters in postings and in "Subject:"
lines, which seems to come up every so often,...
<<FLAME ON!!>>

			DON'T!!

The terminal I use happens to obey the NAPLPS codes for alternate
character sets. Halfway through the "Subject:" of your article,
it goes all Cyrillic (sp?) and/or Greek on me (<SO> or "set G2" or
something), AND STAYS THAT WAY!.

<<AFTERBURNERS ON FULL!!>>
...and until your article expires, everytime I see the index page for this
group my terminal will go funny, WHICH IS EVERY TIME I READ THE GROUP!
It is not fun to have to carefully advance to the next article or group,
drop into a shell, type "tset", and pray that there were no fatal typos,
all while typing blind. (I am not a touch typist.) Should I just give up
for two weeks?

Everyone should realize that there are NO control characters except
newline and tab (NOT EVEN FORM-FEED! which clears my screen) that
are universally safe to use.

<<FLAME OFF>>

Thank you.
