I think you CAN get a service kit - though you may have to pay plenty for the courtesy. Will call back later. GV Goebel / HP-Corvallis Salescenter hplabs!hp-pcd!gvg

I need schematics and any other helpful information relating to the HP 87 computer. I sent a letter to HP in Oregon and they say nope; technical information is available only to their field people. That's right unneighborly I'd guess for a company trying to get a leg up on the personal computer ladder. reply to: Willoughby suite 203 19027 Pacific Highway S. Seattle, Wa. 98188

I checked up on HP-87 schematics. One of the problems is that it is an
obsolete product, so support on it is not necessarily a high priority.
However - you can buy an HP-87A service manual from HP-Computer Supplies
Organization (CSO) at 1-800-538-8787. The part number is 00087-90016,
the cost is $50.00.
This only covers the 87A version. There is an update for the 87XM, but I
cannot seem to find it. If you require this update, drop me a note over the
Net, and I will run off a copy.
