Just bought the HP110 (the old 80x16 line HP Portable) last week and am having a bit of a problem in transferring files using the xmodem file transfer feature in the ROM based terminal package. I tried using modem7 programs on a DEC20 (TOPS-20) and a VAX (4.2bsd) with it. The problem is the same on both systems: it seems that timeouts occur on the mainframe end before the HP110 file xfer gets going. Has anyone had any success using xmodem and the HP110? thanks...todd -- Todd Ogasawara, University of Hawaii, Dept. of Psychology UUCP: {ihnp4,dual,vortex}!islenet! \ ihnp4!__\__ uhmanoa!toddo / {backbone}!sdcsvax!noscvax!humu!/ / clyde/ ARPA: OGASAWARAT%HAW.SDSCNET@LLL-MFE.ARPA ** I used to be: ogasawar@nosc.ARPA & ogasawar@noscvax.UUCP

This encouraged me to build a straight serial cable to use the HP110 serial port rather than the modem. Connecting to a VAX through a Gandalf PACX, XMODEM on the HP110 successfully transfered both text and binary files to and from the VAX. It looks like you can only use XMODEM with serial port connections. The built-in modem seems be unable to handle file xfers using XMODEM. Is this also true of the the newer HP Portable Plus? ...todd -- Todd Ogasawara, University of Hawaii Dept. of Psychology & U. of Hawaii Computing Center UUCP: {ihnp4,dual,vortex}!islenet! \ \__ uhmanoa!toddo / {backbone}!sdcsvax!noscvax!humu!/ / clyde/ ** I used to be: ogasawar@nosc.ARPA & ogasawar@noscvax.UUCP
