Does anyone know how to get a directory listing or the file attributes of a file on an LIF (Logical Interchange Format) disk on an HP9816 running Pascal V3.0 (I think) (the USCD derivative system) from an executing program? I'm working on a server version of the HP-Kermit and I'ld like to be able to send file atrribute packets across with as much information about the original file as possible. As an alternate, does anyone know how to get a copy of the specification for the Logical Interchange Format that HP seems to have available on some of their machines. I could probably read the disk "raw" and grab out what I need if I know how it's stored. Perhaps there's some way to call in the Filer, have it execute, and put its listing somewhere. I've spent awhile with HP's documentation and I can't seem to find a good answer. I must admit UNIX has spoiled me. I'ld forgotten how much of a pain it is to do many things on other operating systems. P.S. I'll be sending a version of the HP-Kermit to Columbia for inclusion in the library "Real Soon Now". P.P.S. I'm also most of the way through an advanced Fortran Kermit for HP1000 RTE-A. Chris Lent ihnp4!allegra!phri!cooper!chris OC.PEDHEM@CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU (Just a guest at)

I was reading the back pages of the latest issue of Electronic Design and saw an ad for file interchange between HP and IBM(tm)PC. Don't know if this was what you are looking for but it may help (July 24,1986 issue, page 165).
