As you may have heard, Rob Kolstad and Scott Bradner are collecting data for an
accurate network map (of uucp links: those across which mail can be
passed). This map contains not only connections but also connection
quality. The "quality" indicates about how long it takes
correspondence to get from your site to the connected site. Our
path-finding program will understand connections indicated by those
sites that you call and that call you and deduce optimal routing
functions from the "big picture". Send forms to
	ihnp4!convex!kolstad	(Rob Kolstad) for a-m sites
	cbosgd!wjh12!map	(Scott Bradner) for n-z sites

p.p.s: There are more complex and accurate ways to specify your connection
	list. Let us know if you'd like the more complex directions.
	(If you know how to use pathalias, the complex way allows you to
	use the DAILY, HOURLY, DEMAND, arithmetic, and the like.)

############ How to make the network map correct for your site #########

Checklist:

_____ 1. Fill in the "site information" below the dotted line with whatever
	   info you wish to disclose to the public. Please don't include any
	   secrets but do tell us as much as you can. (Don't worry about
	   your latitude & longitude if you don't know them).
_____ 2. Complete the "site connection" section. An example section
	   for your site is enclosed -- it may even be correct. If not,
	   try to find out to what sites your machine connects and how often.

	   Make your entry similar to this one for harvard which includes
the machines to which it talks and also the frequency of connection:

#  WJH12

wjh12	genrad(A), linus(B), mhuxi(B),
	foxvax1(B), vaxine(B), amd70(C)

aunix = hscaunix
aunix = HARVUNXA

HarvNet = {wjh12, unixvax, aunix, bunix, littauer}:(LOCAL)

BITNET(HARVUNIXW)  fred@HARVUNIXW.bitnet

--------------- Explanation of Harvard's entry: -----------------------

# Precede comments by a pound sign
#
# +--- Tabs before connected sites
#     v
wjh12	genrad(A), linus(B), mhuxi(B),
	foxvax1(B), vaxine(B), amd70(C)

# harvard talks to the six machines shown above. The parenthesized items are
# the frequency of connection (the "routing cost") from this table:
# NOTE: these sites call at these frequences even if they do not have
# anything for the harvard site, do not include a site that calls you ONLY
# when they have something for you

#  A    2 hours or less
#  B    12 hours or less
# C One day or less
# D One week or less
#  F	Dead (never)    { only used if you once talked to a site }

# If your machine has aliases that many people know, list those alternate
# names for your machine like this:

aunix = hscaunix
aunix = HARVUNXA

# NOTE: the names on the LEFT must appear in a routing table somewhere,
# the names on the RIGHT are the aliases and appear here ONLY.

# If you have a local network, make an entry like the one below which uses
# the colon (:) as its separator character for addresses like
#   foxvax1!wjh12!unixvax:ralph

#                                                 +-- see the colon!
#                                                 v
HarvNet = {wjh12, unixvax, aunix, bunix, littauer}:(LOCAL)

# Regular separator characters are:  ! @ : . ^ %
# Other characters may be used and must be quoted if used in the above context.
# Put your sitename as the FIRST name in any network of which it is a part.

# If you are a part of the BTL action network and call those 600 or so
# sites on demand, include this line:

BTLACTION

# If you have access to other nets, please list the name of the net, your
# machine's name on that net,
# and the character (or a prototype address) you use to access the net, e.g.:

BITNET(HARVUNIXW) %
# or
BITNET(HARVUNIXW)  fred@HARVUNIXW.bitnet

# PLEASE SEND A SEPARATE LETTER FOR EACH COMPUTER

# My records for your computer (quite possibly with dummy frequencies)
# are below:
