[micro.ibm] How's the IBM C compiler for the PC?

ctk@ecsvax.UUCP (10/11/84)

Hello again. Does anybody out there know about the C compiler now sold by
IBM for the PC line? I've been told that it's the Microsoft (Lattice)
compiler. Is it the latest version? Is the exec( ) bug I've been reading
about fixed in that version? Is it faster than the CI compiler? Does it
generate better code? I have the CI compiler at home and my wife has
the Lattice compiler at her job. I'm looking for something that we can
use in a mathematics department for both low level utility stuff and for
research that requires lots of floating point work. Does the IBM compiler
take advantage of the 80(2)87? IBM is offering us a pretty good deal and
I'm tempted to go that way unless some one tells me a real horror story
(like -- remember Fortran v1.0 for the Pc.)
