FILE ARCHIVERS, COMPRESSERS, ENCODERS, ETC., ETC. We are currently writing a document to help novice users understand what these programs do, how to recognize which utility to use, how to deal with files that have been manipulated by such programs as arc, pkarc, zoo, compress, squeeze, uuencode, stuffit, etc., etc. Can anyone lead me to a good source (book, definitive article, etc.) on one or more of the various file archiving, compressing, encoding, etc. utilities for microcomputer files (either MS-DOS or Apple Macintosh format)? Any suggestions that would help me tackle this project in a less piecemeal fashion would be greatly appreciated, and I will gladly share the information provided to me.
