NOTE: This is a reposting of an article I sent out on Sunday, February 19th. Apparently, it did not get to most sites because the new newsgroup wasn't up yet, so I am submitting it again. I apologize to anyone who may end up getting this twice. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would like to ask a favor of all Reform Jews on this net. I would be very interested in receiving any information, recommendations, etc. about Reform synagogues around the country. At this point in my life, I am a Jew without a congregation; I left my old synagogue in my home town and do not wish to return to it again, and I have not yet found another congregation that I really want to join. I know that I will be living in many different places over the next several years of my life, and I also worry about that hazy future when I settle down and have to find a more or less permanent Jewish community to join. My questions, then: 1) What is the name and location (city, state) of the synagogue that you attend? (Include any others that you have previously attended, as well, and repeat your answers to the questions below.) 2) How do you feel about services in your congregation? What do you like about them, what would you change, etc. 3) How well do you know your Rabbi? In general, how accessible and receptive is your Rabbi to members of the congregation? 4) How do you like the Religious School in your synagogue (if you have children)? ( If you can dimly remember the Religious School that you attended as a child, you may comment on that, too) 5) Any other general comments, recommendations, etc. Please, if you can, take the time to answer this survey, and mail back replies to me at yale-com!scott. Don't feel forced to answer all the questions if they seem too personal, too general, or would take too long to answer -- any form of reply is welcome! If there is interest, I could post some of the information I receive on the net. Thanks in advance. -- Reaching out through the void of netland... Walter Scott Yale University decvax!yale-com!scott
