A recent message from Greg Tarsa about waterbeds reminded me of an important point. Generally, it is a very bad idea to put sheets directly on the vinyl of the waterbed. A lot of people seem to do it, but it can result in a very sweaty surface. Even worse, body oils will tend to rapidly degrade the plasticizers that keep the vinyl soft, resulting in smooth, hard areas on the vinyl that are highly subject to cracking. A simple, light mattress cover is all that is needed to avoid these problems. I prefer cotton/synthetic mix to the pure synthetic that most waterbed stores promote. Just buy an ordinary mattress pad at the local department store... --Lauren--
