If the kids are Jewish, you could give them either a lecture or
literature about Judaism.

How about handing them a little card that says, "Sorry, we don't
hand out treats on Halloween because of its non-Jewish origins.
But if you leave your name and address on this card, we'll deliver
you some treats on Purim, the Jewish holiday on which it's a special
mitzvah to *give* food to others."
