I recently moved out of an apartment that has a jewish landlord.
Of course, I left the mezuzahs there.
Now the guy doesn't want to pay me anything, claiming that he doesn't need them.
Well he might not use the apartment for a while but I know that he does plan to
fix it up and extend his apartment. However I anticipated something of that kind
and I withheld my last rent payment. Now he wants to call me to din-torah.
We have - by the way - an additional argument. I moved out on the 20th, and he
wants me to pay rent for the full month. Is that fair ? . Especially since I
know that he couldn't rent out the apartment anyway because of the zoning
regulations in that town.
