[net.religion.jewish] created a Jew?

larryg@teklds.UUCP (12/18/84)

I am a non-jew, but I also see it as foolish to confess to a man and not
to God Himself. Especially since God has taught us to come to Him through
the Old (and New) Testament. I am glad you see this as wrong. I am a
follower of Jesus and see the Catholic church as opposing many of His
teachings.

p.s. if you were created a Jew, does that mean God created me a Gentile to
be lost with no hope of salvation? I am curious what jews believe in this
regard.

With regards to your salvation question, each person is judged separately
and is remunerated in kind. If you abide by the laws set down in the Torah
for gentiles, then you have fulfilled your obligation and will receive the
proper reward. If, however, you do not obey the laws, then you will be held
 accountable for your actions.

some one asked about the Jewish opinion of if one is created a non-Jew
does it mean they are a lost soul.

The Talmud states (I don't remember where) that non-Jews who are good
get a share of Heaven and life in the hereafter.
Judiasm does not say "Eternal Damnation" for non-Jews although others
say it about Jews.
The Talmud lists seven commandments that non-Jews must observe:
(I hope i get this list right, if not someone please correct it)

	1) Not to murder
	2) Not to steal
	3) Sexual morality
	4) Set up courts of law
	5) Not to pull flesh of a living animal and eat it.

6/7 Don't remember someone else please state them!

  6) not to blaspheme
  7) not to worship idols ( the concept of monotheism ).
