[net.religion.jewish] Julie Harazduk's comments on Jews for Jesus

Oh it may be a taco
or it may be a beer
but you've got to serve somebody!

Julie Harazduk in a recent posting wants to know why Larry
Gardner did not get an "adequate" reply from Ken Wolman. In
particular Julie's theme is that the only reason Jews for
Jesus is not considered a Jewish organization is because the
savants who contribute to this news group deem it so.

I was shocked when I read Julie's comments. In this day and age
to make such allegations and comments concerning how Judaism
regards Jesus is uncalled for! To begin with, Judaism does not
regard Jesus as a Prophet! Simply put, Jesus did not fit the
job description. The use of adults as "the mouthpiece of moral
consciousness " stopped functioning in the days of the Second
Temple. Instead of adults, prophecy would come from the mouths
of babes. (Could somebody post to this news group or send me the
specific reference to this.)

Quite frankly I am annoyed by people such as Julie Hardazduk
or anybody else who tries to tell us Jews why believing in
Jesus is not contrary to Judaism (Kol-Nedre services at my Hillel
this year were interrupted by some man who wanted to spread the
word of Jesus). In fact I doubt whether any
intelligent argument could dissuade them in their attempt.
I have come to the conclusion that the only reason why
people like Julie Harazduk would make comments like she did is
because they see Judaism's failure to recognize Jesus
as the savior as a political embarrassment. How does one
explain to the rest of the world that Jesus is the Messiah
when descendants of his own people refuse to believe it?

Why else are we being intimidated? Why else is this
intimidation encouraged by certain groups?

Let me make one thing clear, I am not condemning Christianity.
What I am against are those who take it on themselves to tell
me that I am wrong in the manor in which I practice my faith
because I fail to recognize that the messiah has come in the
form of Jesus. The only reason that I can come up with for
their desire to do such is one of insecurity, insecurity for
the reasons mentioned above.
