The Sudanese government today announced that all refugees from the Sudan were free to go anywhere they wish except Israel. Thus Ethiopian Jews will be able to fly to Israel with a short stop in some convenient European city. David Rubin

Not so good is the news I read in Monday's (1/21/85) Wall Street Journal: "At least 1,800 Ethiopian Jews died in Sudan's desert while fleeing their drought-stricken country's famine for a promised new home in Israel, published reports in Britain and the U.S. said. Israel's secret "Operation Moses" airlift was halted Jan. 6 after it was disclosed that about 7,000 Ethiopian Jews had been taken to Israel." No other details were reported in this article.
