Also Super Glue is being used by police to take finger prints at the scene of a crime! They vaporize super glue over an area. The vapor reacts with the oils of a fingerprint, yielding superior visibility of finger prints. Isn't american technology great?! -Ken Bronstein hp-pcd!ken

They were originally developed as a substitute for stitches. Or is that sarcasm, not conveyed?

Don't be so surprised about superglue in surgery. It actually was invented for surgical use, and had been used successfully for many years in the operating room before being commercially available.

Also, I wonder if anything is going to be done about reinstating cyclamates; I understand that some years back, there were studies indicating that the earlier studies on which the ban was based were flawed. Aren't regulatory agencies great? James Jones

I was amused to find that someone found using super glue in surgery for binding tissue odd. Perhaps it's not generally known, but cyanoacrylate, the active ingredient in super glue, and the glue itself, were developed for the purpose of gluing skin together after surgery where no sutchers were wanted. This is usually done on exposed areas where a scar is to be avoided. -- Ed Gould ucbvax!mtxinu!ed
