------ Alas, I can't make a living refuting Y. Martillo's misrepresentations about myself. > Comment: A few months ago Mike Cherepov disagreed with me when I > claimed legally studying Hebrew in the Soviet Union was basically > impossible. Of course he would never have tried and therefor would > never have run into the obstacles which the Soviet government has made > for such study. I have no idea which of my statements made "a few months ago" Mr. Martillo has in mind, but if any of them contradicts those well known facts (given by New Republic) - I apologize for shamelessly lying. However, the apology here is purely a rhetorical move, because the comment above is a product of Mr. Martillo's wishful thinking. He wants to succeed in detecting and lambasting leftist Ashkenazi scum. If indeed my "disagreement" was of the nature suggested by him, I would be deservedly fried and branded a liar IMMEDIATELY, not a few months later. This inane charge is just another example of Mr. Martillo's methods of discussion - no wonder it made me so sick last time. > A few weeks later, the Leningrad party daily Leninskaya > Pravda described Israel as a "money-grubbers' paradise" and concluded: > "Let us be frank. The appeal to Hebrew ... is far from cultural, but is > strictly political .... How does Zionism extend its tentacles? ... First > of all, with the aid of religion, and Hebrew." The fact that offensive against Hebrew study has been declared by some newspapers is certainly a sign of persecutions to come, and probably is an indication of Soviet anti-semitism' shift into higher gear - Andropov's short rule would not be remembered as a thaw. I have all kinds of reasons to hate that country (and I do, as I distinctly remember saying a few months ago). I feel about same way as Mr. Martillo would if somebody portrayed him as a great defender of Islam. Mike Cherepov - apparently wasting time.
