I'm somewhat concerned about the postings of Don Black and
the report by M. Fingerhut regarding the cable-TV appearance
of Felderer and Hoffman in Ithaca (N.Y.). I too have
noticed a significant increase in what appears to be well-
organized Anti-Semitism recently.
In particular, I've heard two strikingly similar incidents
on New York radio. First, I was listening to a call-in show
on WABC where the guest was Liz Holtzman, District Attorney
of Brooklyn. By way of background material, Ms. Holtzman
sacrificed her Thanksgiving holiday last year to travel to
Paraguay (along with others) to exert pressure on the
government in an effort to obtain information as to the
whereabouts of Josef Mengele, the notorious Angel of Death
of Auschwitz (the trip was made at no expense to taxpayers).
Well, a ways into this call-in show some nut called in and
started ranting and raving about her travel to Paraguay to
find an "old man" who probably didn't do anything anyway.
He went on to get a few words in about how the Holocaust
never took place ... Ms. Holtzman maintained her cool and
made the guy look like the jerk he was. I thought to
myself, one incident, one jerk, no big deal.
Well, the other day I was listening to another call-in show
where the guest was Tom Kean, Governer of New Jersey. This
time the caller wanted to know why taxpayers' money was
being "wasted" teaching about the Holocaust in public
schools, since "it never took place". Gov. Kean responded
well and hung-up on this jerk.
Now I hear on net-news about another incident in Ithaca and
we witness first-hand Don Black. WHAT'S GOING ON?
It occurs to me that we've got a real powerful medium here
to gather data on this. Does anyone else have an experience
to relate? If so, POST THEM, let everyone know what's going
on! Let's collectively open our eyes.
In addition, I'm going to archive all reports and forward
them to the ADL and Simon Weisental Center, to give the
professionals the data they needed to keep up their most
effective job.
