I am traveling to Maine, and was wondering if anyone knows of any Kosher
places to eat, or of any orthodox Jewish community. Also, any suggestions of
places to visit would be of great help.

  Yitz,

      I tried to respond to you by mail but it was returned to me several
times so I'm responding on the net (my apologies to everyone else).

      There is a kosher retaurant (dairy) in Bangor and also an orthodox
shul there. 

      In terms of places to visit, about an hour north of Bangor is
Bar Harbor, which borders on Acadia National Park. It is very scenic
and is good for hiking, climbing, fishing, etc. We've gone up there
several times,  although we always take our own food along .
