This really doesn't have much to do with Judaism, but I thought it might be of interest to the readers of this group. The "Institute for Historical Review", an anti-semitic organization which claims the Holocaust was a hoax, offered a $50,000 reward to anyone who could prove *to their satisfaction* that Jews were murdered at Auschwitz. Naturally proof was not long in coming, but the IHR refused to pay. Mel Mermelstein of Long Beach, CA filed suit in 1981 to force payment of the reward. A settlement has been reached under which the IHR must pay the full reward to Mermelstein, PLUS $100,000 to compensate for pain and suffering involved in gathering proof. (Source for the above is a UPI story released this month). -Fred
