I'm seeking information about conditions generally in Egypt during the time of the Israelite bondage. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me to authoritative or scholarly articles, books, etc. on the subject. My extremely limited abilities as an historian have led me to the writings of Josephus. There must be something better. More specifically, I'm interested in the legal system existent during the time and how it applied to the various internal societal groups. My desire is to obtain a clear picture of the state or condition of the Israelites while in bondage. I then wish to study how the Law addressed some of the problems which would likely carry over from their prior state. My intention is to highlight the Law as a vehicle for social and spiritual change - how it was to take a nation of slaves and make of them "a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation." (Ex. 19:6) Thanks much. Mike IsBell ..!tektronix!tekecs!mikei Tektronix, Inc. Wilsonville Industrial Park P.O. Box 1000 Wilsonville, Oregon 97070 (503) 685-2990
