An interesting note on the recent hijacking incident involving an Egyptian airliner, going from Athens, Greece, to Cairo, Egypt - with the commando raid on the ground in Malta, resulting in about 60 deaths. The New York Times, Monday, November 25/'85, quoted the Egyptian pilot as saying that the airplane was the same plane used by the Egyptian government to fly the group of hijackers of the Italian cruise liner the Achille Lauro, to supposedly be tried by the infamous Yasir Arafat in Tunisia. What an irony that the same plane used to send hijackers to their freedom was itself hijacked only a few weeks later, and was the scene of a very bloody rescue mission. Also note that some of the survivors of the raid on the plane were quoted as saying that the Egyptian commandos fired indiscriminantly. This raises the question of how a government should train its crack team of commandos in dealing with such situations - what procedures should be followed, etc. Asher Meth ....... meth@nyu-csd2.arpa ....... allegra!cmcl2!csd2!meth
