Come on you guys, lighten up! Not to change the subject, but to change the subject![sic] I've tried (and enjoyed) most of the soy products, and to date found tempeh to be my favorite. Alas, I,ve found something that looks like it might put tempeh in the number 2 slot. While at one of the various Veg restaurants in town I had the occaision to try something called (on their menu) "wheat meat". I enjoyed it so much that the next time I was at my co-op (vegetarian, no less) I asked one of the buyers whether they had heard of this item. They had and as luck should have it, she told me that not only were they planning on stocking some, but that the proper name was "setan". I have since bought some (bought some more tempeh too) and was quite pleased. I would like to know if anyone out in netland.veg has any knowledge of this wheat product, it's history, and any recipes utilizing it. The contents on the container are whole wheat, kombu, and tamari. Post any info to the net along with any references you might have. Ray Benash ................ Just another veggie who doesn't care to explain.
