[net.veg] Prentiss Riddle's remarks re recipes

jgb@linus.UUCP (Jonathan G. Bressel) (02/16/84)

I must take exception to Prentiss Riddle's statements below:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you very much for posting the recipes. They look very good and
I am anxious to try them. But...

If I remember correctly from the controversy surrounding the formation
of this newsgroup, recipes belong in net.cooks, not net.veg. There are
many non-vegetarians who enjoy eating vegetarian meals from time to
time. I suspect that many of them have unsubscribed to net.veg because
of the large amount of pro/con discussion which predominated in its
early days. (I nearly did, myself.) The fact that this newsgroup is
called "net.veg" and not "net.cooks.veg" was intended to emphasize that
its subject matter was to be ideology and nutrition, not recipes.

Please remember that even flesh-eaters enjoy their veggies, and post
recipes to net.cooks. Thanks!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isn't part of "ideology and nutrition" good recipes to help practicing
vegetarians? Why not post recipes to both net.cooks and net.veg? I think
this group needs a shot in the arm to save it from the boredom caused by
overly theoretical discussions. Recipes might liven things up.
