[net.veg] waffle recipe

I like waffles, but got tired of them, since the only waffle recipe
I had was the one on the Bisquick box. I went to a free Vegetarian
cooking class, and they made a delicious waffle:
In blender, put 4 c water, 4c oats, 1T oil, and dash of salt.
 Blend. Let sit 10 minutes.
Cook in waffle iron on medium heat, for about 10-15 minutes. They
don't brown quite as much as the bisquick waffles.

It's hard to believe that they are just made of oats and water. I
am going to experiment by adding some sesame seeds and bran next
time. I make a big batch, freeze them, and stick them in the toaster
for breakfasts. (They aren't very sweet, but I think they're pretty
healthy.)

The waffle recipe looks interesting, especially since my wife is trying
to restrict her wheat intake for a while (she suspects an allergy).

But I want to say something about Bisquick - IT CONTAINS LARD. Look
down the ingredient list of a lot of those packaged goodies and you'll
find lard (or animal fat, or animal products) are often listed.

Just thought I would mention it,

We have tried the receipe and my kids like it. My wife tried it and
also liked it. We feel it is best with jam not syrup...but anyway
our thanks to the person that thought of it. Really sparks up the
drab old same-same breakfast.
