One suggestion I'd give is to avoid those well-known chains! The prob-
lem with such chains is that they have the same things in every outlet. You've
listed just about everything they've got for vegetarians.
There is a bit more, though, and I'll list the few I know about:

o Kentucky Fried Chicken has potato salad and cole slaw.

o Burger King's had a salad bar for a while, and I hear that
McDonald's is getting into the act. Last I checked, Wendy's
had the best salad bar of all of the franchises.

o Wendy's has stuffed baked potatoes; you can get them stuffed
	      with cheese and broccoli.

o Denny's has a variety of good vegetarian breakfasts, with
attractions like pancakes (with strawberries!), grits, hash
browned potatoes, bagels, etc. Most of their breakfasts
have eggs or things made with eggs (French toast), though.
They serve breakfast 24 hours a day, by the way!

	      I don't know how wide-spread Denny's is; a similar restaurant
is called No Place Like Sam's (formerly Sambo's). I believe
it's run by the same people who run Denny's.

o Howard Johnson's offers things like macaroni and cheese,
baked potatoes, etc. Unfortunately, I've never enjoyed
eating at Howard Johnson's; the food has always been bland
and cost too much. I always end up writing many, many
complaints on the little complaint forms they have.

It's good to know these things so that you'll be prepared to feed your-
self if there's nothing around except (for example) Burger King; but again, I
recommend avoiding the chains.
Something you can always depend on is finding a pizza place. In add-
ition to cheese pizzas, there's also mushrooms, onions, peppers, spinach,
olives, etc. Most of these places also make subs. (Subs are also called tor-
pedoes, grinders, hoagies, heros, bombs, and about a million other things,
depending on what part of the country you're in!) A vegetarian sub always
costs less than the other ones, and they come in a wide variety.
If you're in a city, your chances of finding Oriental and Mexican
restaurants are good, and they may have good vegetarian fare. Indian rest-
aurants are my favorite, but they're not as easy to find.
If you're ever in Worcester, MA, be sure to look for the Annapurna!

To supplement the point that was made that most towns have
Mexican Resturants, make sure you ask the waitress if the
beans were cooked in lard. Unfortunetly in most resturants
this is the case. Also, Pizza tastes great but the cheese
that is used probably is made with animal enzymes (this is
what solidifies the cheese).

You referred to cheese being made with animal enzymes. This
is animal renet, and is used for the purpose you stated. However,
most cheese is made with some kind of renet, but there is vegetable
renet. This is used in most domestic cheeses since it is cheaper.
Almost all imported cheese DO use it. In most hard core coop's and
health food stores, the kind of renet used in the cheese is usually
stated, however, in other grocers and restaurants you can't count
on it. If it's not a very fancy or expensive place, chances are
that they are using the cheaper cheeses with vegetable renet.
I don't profess to know a lot on the subject, but this is what I
have been told. If anyone else has better information, please
correct or add to the above.
