In four years of studying experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific method in general I learned, among other things, these two facts: 1) You can't explain the rationale behind scientific method in 25 words or less. 2) You can't explain it at all to someone who doesn't want to hear it because it casts doubt on their pet theories and/or beliefs. The current discussion of unconventional cancer cures and laetril, etc. is beginning to sound a lot like net.abortion and/or net.origins. Much heat is being generated, and no one's opinions are being changed by it. I propose either dropping the discussion, or moving it to net.flame where it more appropriately belongs. Then net.med and net.veg can go back to being the useful, informative forums they were before the subject was brought up. -- ============================================================================== The Polymath (Jerry Hollombe) Citicorp TTI If thy CRT offend thee, pluck 3100 Ocean Park Blvd. it out and cast it from thee. In my opinion, this is the best discussion that has been in this news group in over a year. I'd much rather talk about this than chiropractors. -- Carter Bullard ICS, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA 30332 CSNet:Carter @ Gatech ARPA:Carter.Gatech @ CSNet-relay.arpa uucp:...!{akgua,allegra,amd,ihnp4,hplabs,seismo,ut-ngp}!gatech!carter
