A friend's family has 1/4 interest in a "pig farm" outside Lafayette, Indiana. It is a high tech pig farm. The pigs live in a large metal barn. They are born there. The first time they see sunlight is when they go to slaughter. Once a week a big tank truck backs up to the feed opening. The driver walks over to the computer keyboard and punches in the appropriate key sequence and a door opens on the barn. Then he pumps the semi-liquid feed into the automatic dispensing system. The machine feeds the pigs so much per day. Once in a while a person comes out and checks the pigs. A few times a year the trucks come to take the pigs to slaughter. Yes, you are right, killing is very natural. -Ben Leimkuhler
