I find it interesting that there is such a thing as a
Weight Watchers Vegetarian Plan. I think anyone in this
plan should know that Weight Watchers has been known to
give away the pelts of dead mustelids as contest prizes.
I would hope that most vegetarians would find this kind of
thing unacceptable.

What is a mustelid?? I can't find it in my dictionary. Since
I've been on the program, and that has been for the past year,
I have never known of the program to have contests. They do
give gifts sometimes for consistent attendance - - last summer
it was a beach towel and in the winter it was a tote bag. Neither
contained a pelt of anything.
Besides, I need the type of support that the program supplies to
lose weight and I appreciate the plan they provide - it's balanced,
varied and meatless.

Maybe I spelled it wrong, but a mustelid is a mink, weasel,
otter, etc. Weight Watchers recently had a contest with a
mink coat as one of the big prizes. I'm sure this promotion
is an isolated event and doesn't reflect on Weight Watchers as
a whole... I've heard lots of good things about them.

But it bothers me a little when fur coats are given away as
promotions (Mary Kay Cosmetics is one of the big offenders -- they've
been doing it for years). It sort of implies that there isn't
even a controversy regarding the ethics of wearing furs.
I wouldn't call Weight Watchers a major offender though...
