I purchased a small refrigerator for my office at Sears and chose to pay for it in CASH. The cashier was flabergasted, and was not sure how to handle a cash purchase that big! She did not have enough change in her drawers, because NOBODY ever payed them ~$160 in cash. She kept asking whether I had a credit card, or would prefer to pay by check. Naturally, she asked if I wanted to apply for a Sears Credit card. The part that really bugged me was that she kept trying to sell me a maintenance policy for another $35. I would rather buy a new refrigerator when it eventually broke down, than to go through the hassle of getting the refrigerator out of the building and back to Sears for repair. I have already received two phone calls offering the same policy. Don't they know to give up?

Sears in metropolitan areas has fleets of puke-green trucks that fix things. I used to get these calls because I worked in a place that had a phone number that was coincidentally close to the Sears repair number. Excuse me if you were trying to be facetious and I didn't recognize it. -Ron
