I tried posting this a while back but apparently it got mangled on
my machine. So here it goes again.
I received close to 30 responses to my article via mail and on the
net. "Every single" response stated that the shop is a good buy,
especially as a starter. Alas, there were few bad points mentioned:
1- You don't get a large variety, rather you get N pieces of each of M
different parts. N being very (too?) large, M being small.
2- The quality is fair. Most hardware store offer quality as good as
or better than the quality the shop has.
3- You get more cotter pins (and maybe washers) that you may use in a
life time.
4- Once you buy, you will get flooded with junk mail.
5- Other places (someone mentioned Sears) may offer the same kind of
deal. The difference is that you don't pay shipping charges and if
you have a problem or you need more parts, you can go directly to
where you bought it.
Note that even those who supplied these negative points agreed that
overall the shop is a good buy.
Be careful out there.
