[net.consumers] Cordless Telephone Warning

trott@olorin.DEC (Dale at TWO/A07, DTN:247-2146) (03/12/84)

rned the first unit to the store in exchange for another one that
was just as bad. On my second trip to the store I demanded my money back
and was told by the store that I had to deal with the manufacturer. I sent
it back to Miami with a rather strong letter demanding a check for the amount
I paid for the unit. I never heard from the company, I contacted the Better
Business Bureau (they were not much help) and they could not even get an
answer from them! At that point (it's been three months since I sent the unit
back!) I called the company myself and finally got the "operations manager"
on the phone and told him I wanted my money back. He told me they received the
unit back in November (nice of them to tell me!) and it was not their "policy"
to make refunds, I argued with him but to no avail, he attempted to appease me
by telling me that a brand new unit is on it's way to me in the mail. I don't
even want their garbage! Now it looks as though I'm stuck with another wonder-
ful product from COSMO. If this one is as good as the last one I think I'll
hop the next flight to Miami and go a few rounds face to face with them!

I figure the least I can do is to post this letter to net.consumers and
let everyone know what a great outfit COSMO Time Corp is! Please warn your
friends to avoid ANYTHING manufactured by COSMO Time Corp. at all costs!

Anyone know any neat "tricks" that can be used to get back at an outfit
like this? Ah, the sweet taste of revenge would please my palate. Thanks for
listening, I feel a bit better now.

(This is a re-posting since it appears that the mysterious "line gobbler"
ate the first half of my last attempt to put this up. Apologies to those
rare few who may have read the entire article already.)

This is a *warning* to anyone that may be in the market for one of
those handy-dandy cordless telephones. Take my advice, stay away from
anything manufactured by COSMO TIME CORP. of Miami Florida, remember
that name, COSMO Time Corp!

I have been through a consumers nightmare with this company starting
when I was foolish enough to shell out ~$100 for a cordless telephone
manufactured by a company I never heard of. I guess that's the moral of
the story, don't take chances on brands you are unfamiliar with!

I purchased the unit (model #TR-3000) back in November and found it
to be defective within a week. The unit was very flakey, it would ring
when there wasn't anyone calling, it would suddenly start dialing random
(I assume) numbers on it's own when not in use, a true engineering marvel!
I returned the first unit to the store in exchange for another one that
was just as bad. On my second trip to the store I demanded my money back
and was told by the store that I had to deal with the manufacturer. I sent
it back to Miami with a rather strong letter demanding a check for the amount
