I went to my local Wendy's today and they had some new potato dishes, including a Stroganoff Potato for $1.99. Sounded good, so I tried it. I got a nice big potato filled with a large quantity of appealing looking sauce. I bit in, and came up with a mouthfull of mushrooms and sour cream. A second bite was the same. I always thought Stroganoff meant meat, although the menu item said "Stroganoff", not "Beef Stroganoff". I fished around with my fork looking for beef and couldn't find any. I went up and asked the manager if beef was included, he said yes. So I went back and looked harder. Still no beef. I took the potato back up, and resisted the temptation to do a Clara "Where's the Beef" Barton imitation (can't remember her last name), and asked him if he could find any beef. He said "well, you could have eaten it already" (quite right, I suppose I could have) but put another scoop of Stroganoff on top anyway. I went back to my table happy, but started counting pieces of beef. When I was done, I had counted 4 pieces of beef, each about the size of your little finger beyond the last knuckle. One of them was pretty well hidden and might have been in the original potato. Is the Stroganoff Potato just being test marketed in Columbus, or is it nationwide? (They have a Chicken ala King version that is also new.) How much beef are others finding in their Wendy's Stroganoff potatoes? How much should I reasonably expect to find? (I generally think each bite ought to have a piece of beef in it; a bite full of mushrooms leaves something to be desired.) I find it ironic that Wendy's, of all places, would scrimp on beef in a new product offering. Mark
