Last week, I posted an article here telling about a call I had received from a firm called KellyMed, promising prizes in exchange for my credit card number. Several people responded to me, saying I should contact the fraud division at Visa or MasterCard. Today, I called Visa and found out that KellyMed is under investigation by Visa for fraud. They promise prizes that they never deliver, and run up unauthorized charges on your credit card. Visa is seeking an injunction to force them to cease these practices. I mentioned to them that I had called the BBB in LA, and was told there were no complaints against the company. They called the BBB and filed a formal complaint. The people at Visa gave me some guidelines to follow: Visa NEVER holds prize give aways, and if they ever should in the future, notification would be sent with your monthly statement. Never give your credit card number out over the phone, unless you are ordering merchandise. If someone claims to be representing Visa - they should already know your card number, so be suspicious and report them to Visa. So beware - and if someone from KellyMed calls YOU, hang up!!
