Repairing rubber or flexible plastic items is a common problem for which I have seen no good solutions. I am currently trying to find an effective repair for: 1) a VW key, which has a hard rubber or plastic head through which it is usually attached to a key ring. (The hole tore through). 2) weatherstripping around car windows attached firmly to the glass, but now split and useless. I have tried lots of solutions for each of these problems, but none has lasted more than about a month. Nothing seems to stick very well to this sort of material, and most adhesives are defeated by the flexing of the joint that comes with normal use. Anybody have any success trying to fix these sorts of things. I have tried (unsuccessfully) the following: Silicone caulk (for the weatherstripping): Alone, it was useless. Backed by electrical tape it lasted a couple of months. Tape alone: Ugly, and lasts only a short while. Epoxy (On the key): Broke into tiny pieces almost immediately. I tried several kinds. "Instant gules": (I have never succeeded in getting these to stick to anything but skin!) -- Warren Montgomery ihnss!warren IH x2494
