I'm interested in buying a cordless phone for home use. I'm aware that there is a Consumer Reports article (Sep 83) that rates a number of units but I'd like to get some feedback from all you out there in netland who own one: which model do you own, what's good about it, what's bad about it, what features are handy, etc. Replies by mail preferred, since this has rapidly become a high traffic newsgroup. I'll summarize to the net if there's sufficient interest. Thanks much. -- Dave Bartley John Fluke Mfg Co PO Box C9090 Everett,WA 98206 USA { ihnp4!uw-beaver, decvax!microsoft, hplabs!lbl-csam, allegra } !fluke!dbb

The issue about cordless phones has nothing to do with whether the police are permitted to record conversations from a cordless phone. It simply boils down to this: If you are not bothered by the fact that anyone within a radius of about 12 miles can listen in to your phone conversation if they so wish, then go ahead and buy one if you like. (But don't make any drug deals over the phone :-) You might also ponder whether a cordless phone will be as convenient as it appears. If you are as tidy as I am you are better off having the thing tied down than scurrying all over the house trying to find out where you left the handset. Pete Hardie P.S. How many more times is that article about Kansas law going to be reposted?
